Menus and Toolbars

The FMS Explorer user interface contains several related menu ribbons with which to access the functionality to view, edit, and manage large volumes of electronic flow measurement data. In addition, the interface contains screen toolbar options to manage viewing of the menu ribbons and CygNet Help, control toolbars to access actions within each control, and a status bar to help you see the current view of your system at a glance.

Menu Ribbons

FMS Explorer contains seven fixed tabs to access menu ribbon options for performing various measurement tasks.

Control Toolbars

A toolbar is located at the top of each control.

FMS Explorer toolbar

In most cases, options specific to the control appear to the right of these standard elements, and arrows to access additional drop-down menu options may appear. Toolbar options may appear as a second row when the control view is significantly reduced in size. The following buttons appear on the toolbars; buttons unavailable for the control you are viewing will appear dimmed.

Note: Every control does not necessarily utilize every component listed in the table. See the corresponding Control topic for more information regarding a specific control.

Option Description

Refresh icon

Click to Refresh the control view.

Note: The Refresh button will not take into account changes made through the Options pane that have been selected but not yet applied.

See Refresh Button for more information.

Save icon

Edited records are not changed until they are committed using the Save action.

Note: The Save button is available on the Alarm, Configuration, and History Grid controls, where edits can be made.

Cancel icon

Click to Cancel uncommitted edits and refresh the control.

Note: The Cancel button is available on the Alarm, Configuration, and History Grid controls, where edits can be made.

Print icon

Click to Print the contents of the control.

Note: The Print button is available on the Reports control.

Export icon

Click to Export the contents of the control to a file. Available options, if applicable, are available in the drop-down menu.

Refresh Button

Click Refresh Refresh icon to refresh the view of the data using the most recent properties that have been applied. The Refresh button is made available based on the current view of the data, and will appear dimmed when it is unavailable. The button becomes available when the control's internal representations of the properties differ, and the view can be refreshed to reflect the last properties that have been applied.

Note: Clicking Refresh updates the view based on applied properties. The Chooser and Options panes do not necessarily reflect the last applied properties; they reflect the last selected properties. Therefore if selections are made and then not applied, the panes will continue to display the "dirty" or non-applied properties.
